MEET THE

    Family

Caroline

I am Caroline the owner and main photographer/videographer behind Caroline Newkirk Photo and Video.   I have lots of hobbies (my husband will tell you it is excessive), but photography is hands down the hobby that has brought me the most joy in my life.  My personality is very "Type A" which excited some people and makes other people groan.  I am a habitual over-explainer.  My husband (as well as the rest of my family) always crack jokes about the lengths of my voice-mails.  I have a degree in Accounting and my brain understands logical, mathematical, and concrete type of information the best. Photography is my one and only "creative" outlet where I get to think abstractly and with emotion instead of just logic.  I am obsessed with organization, workflows, and systems.  I identify with the phrase, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right." Check down below to see my "Who, What, Why's" as well as some of my all-time favorite things!

Lok

I promise that Lok is way more friendly than he looks right here. Lok is my number one biggest supporter.  He picked up the video side for weddings when my photography took off and I couldn't do two things at one time!  He is the strong, silent type to 99% of the world.  However, when it's just the two of us, he gives me a run for my money when it comes to being chatty.  He has the greatest laugh I've ever heard.  He is kind, loving, and devoted to me. He loves me fiercely and he is always there for me.  He loves rock and heavy metal music, movies of all kinds (especially super-hero movies). He has the most AWESOME man cave on the planet and every video-game system that has ever been made (or pretty close). He has the most gorgeous blue eyes and dark, long, eyelashes (something he passed on to my son).  He's ooober handsome and he is the best dad and husband on the planet!

Mace

Oh where do I begin about my little Mace-dog! Yes, I recognize that is an odd nick-name for a child and I have no idea where it came from, but that's what we call him.  This little boy came into our lives in the summer of 2014 and it has been a wild ride ever since! He was the inspiration for my photography and is my practice subject all the time.  He is super smart, and handsome like his daddy! He is the most loving little boy I've ever met even to random strangers!! Usually he will try to at least hug, if not hug AND kiss anyone who comes to our house before they leave. He is a lover. I am so, soo, soo blessed to be the momma of this little angel. I thank God for giving us this happy, healthy boy. Parenting is one of the hardest, most amazing, most rewarding things I have ever done.  I can't wait to see where this life takes him and what we will become! In case you want to experience more of his cuteness I have an entire slideshow of pictures of him at the bottom of this page.  Your welcome! ;)

What, How, and  Why

What I do:

Time flies, that is why it is so important to capture the memories before they are over. I know how important your loved ones are to you & that is why I enjoy photographing & delivering priceless images, that I know you will cherish for years to come. If you are looking to book a session or just to chat & see if I would be a good choice for you, please get in touch! Use the contact form, reach out through facebook, e-mail me, or give me a call.  I cannot wait to meet you & your precious loved ones!

How I do it:

I am a studio light photographer as well as an outdoor photographer. Natural light is beautiful, but can’t always be counted on depending on weather, season, etc.  I have invested in top of the line studio lights in order to guarantee great lighting year-round in my studio! Currently my studio is only sized for newborns & small children- so I like to do family portraits outside.  My favorite time to do these is in the late afternoon/evening to get gorgeous sun-filled images! Feel free to check out the info tab for more information.

Why I do it:

I have had a love for taking pictures for as long as I can remember. I have albums & albums of pictures of my life growing up with friends & family. I always had a camera wherever I went. I filmed my very first wedding back in April of 2013.  While I was pregnant with my son, I decided I wanted to learn more about the photography side of things. I got my very first DSLR for my birthday in 2014 and haven't looked back since. I quickly realized there is A LOT more to photography then having a good camera. You need to know your equipment, know your subject, & most importantly understand LIGHT in order to make your vision for that photograph a reality. I am an "all-or-nothing" kind of person when it comes to pretty much anything in life (Good for photography, bad for dieting), so when I set my mind to becoming a photographer there was nothing that was going to stand in my way.  To say I poured every ounce of my energy into learning as much as I possible could, would be an understatement! I have lived, eaten, and breathed photography for the past three years and what a ride it's been!   I have participated in well known courses with Lisa DiGeso/Milk & Honey Photography, Katelyn James Photography,  Zach & Jody Gray , and Justin and Mary Marantz, as well as scouring the internet for tips & information, all the while updating my equipment & continuing to hone my skills. What I have learned is that I can turn what was once a hobby into a career that I can be proud of. I love photography & I am so blessed to be able to share it with you.
