I had the
We started out the wedding day at the hair salon! I think Kayla did a great job on her hair! Shannon had the absolute cutest “wifey” shirt that we had to get a picture in, too!
The pastor of the church where they got married was actually kind enough to let me stay late after the rehearsal the night before and get Shannon’s detail shots done ahead of time! Details are some of my favorite parts of the day! Her dress and shoes were absolutely gorgeous! Her ring was stunning as well- I loved the teardrop shape!
The couple finished getting ready at their ceremony site, the Grace Lutheran Church in Versailles, MO.
These two looked awesome once they were all finished getting ready! A truly beautiful couple.
It was really important to Shannon and Shawn not to see each other before the wedding. So instead of the “first look” between the bride and groom, she opted for a “first look” with her dad! It was very sweet and you could see just how proud he was of her. There is nothing sweeter than a girl and her daddy!
The ceremony was beautiful and intimate. Afterwards they did a traditional receiving line and did a bubble exit from the church! It was so fun!
It was VERRRRY cold, rainy, and windy so we had to do most of the photos indoors…but I was able to get these two outside for a VERY brief amount of time to get some sweet shots of them! I had two awesome groomsmen that volunteered to come to help me. They held up my big reflector to shield Shannon and Shawn from the high winds! I’m so glad we were able to at least get a few great shots so they had some variety from the more formal, darker, church altar shots.
The reception was a blast! Shannon made her own wedding cake and it was beautiful! Not only did it look great but it tasted amazing. I was floored that on top of all the other to-do’s that come along with getting ready for a wedding she even made her own cake!!
During the reception, one of her brothers stood up and told a story about how when they were young kids they listened to their grandma talk about how she had made her cake for her own wedding when she got married. After hearing this story, apparently, Shannon had then decided she would do the same when she got married someday! Her brother doubting that would ever happen proceeded to tell her that if she actually did that he would give her fifty bucks. Well, fast forward years later to Shannon’s wedding day! She didn’t forget about that little pact, and he made good on his word and gave her the fifty bucks in front of everyone at the reception! It was such a cute and funny story.
First dances as husband and wife are always so special! And those daddy/daughter dances!!
So there you have it! All my favorite images from the Basnett Wedding! I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple to spend the day with! I’m so thankful to them for picking me to document their big day!
