We had the pleasure of photographing the Richart wedding on July 13, 2019! One of the things that stands out to me most from this wedding was the sweet bride, Kara. As you will see from the many images below, Kara has the absolute best smile ever! I swear I don’t think I looked at her once during the day that she didn’t have this big smile on her face. She was SUCH a sweet bride and person. My view of her sweet disposition was further solidified when I heard the speeches at the reception! It seemed like everyone had stories to tell about what a kind, sweet person she was- and I have to agree! Her hubby was a great guy, too and they seemed like a wonderful couple.
To start the wedding day we almost always do bridal details first! We usually do these in between photographing last-minute bridal preparations. I’m a detail person, so this is always a great way to start out our day!
It was very important to Kara and Andrew to wait until the ceremony to see each other. So while we didn’t do our traditional “first look” between the bride and groom, Kara did request to do one with her father, brother, and bridal party. I absolutely LOVE the pictures of her girls seeing her for the first time! They were so excited and had the best reactions!! Good girlfriends are so nice to have on your wedding day, and she had lots of them!
They were married at the St. Paul Lutheran church in Lohman, MO. The church was PACKED! Even in the balcony! It was one of the most well attended weddings I’ve ever been to!
The wedding day was EXTREMELY hot and sunny! We started our wedding party/couples photos at the Governor’s garden in the tiny bit of shade we could find. It was the middle of the afternoon and the sun was out and beating down! It ended up working out for some of the smaller groupings, but we eventually opted to a second location that had more shade and better light for the bigger group photos! I’m always thankful for a bride who will trust me when I want to change locations from what we initially planned for. Light ALWAYS trumps location for me. Great light = great photographs! They had a HUGE wedding party, but thankfully they had this really neat trolley to drive them around!
Their reception was at the Milbottom in Jefferson City, MO. I have seen so many pictures from the Milbottom but never had the chance to do a wedding there until now! It was such a neat venue. Also the decorations and details were breathtaking! I could not believe how gorgeous the head table was. Beautiful place settings, gorgeous flower arrangements, and an awesome chandelier to top it off. It was truly breathtaking!
This was also the first wedding we photographed that opted for a live band instead of the traditional DJ’s we usually see. Talk about next level! There was such a cool energy at the reception that I think the live band played a big part in! There were lots of people dancing and having a good time.
Speaking of next level, the couple hired a professional live painter to pain their reception as well! She was such a sweet person and has an amazing talent. You can see even in the “in-process” stage how great her painting already looked. I’ve put links to her down below if you want to see more of her work and to see where she posted the finished product from this wedding. Truly beautiful!
It was such a fun night! Here are the rest of my favorites from the reception!
A big thank you to Kara and Andrew for hiring us and trusting us with their wedding day! I hope you love the pictures as much as we do!
